How to Order Riedell ColorLab Roller Skate Boots Through Pabloskates
Have you ever looked at a beautiful pair of Riedell roller skate boots and thought, “They’re lovely, but I want mine in purple, turquoise and metallic gold”? That is exactly what Riedell ColorLab is for. ColorLab allows you to customise the colours and materials used across the different panels of selected Riedell skate boots, creating something far more personal than an ordinary stock boot. The online designer is great fun to use, but it does not actually take payment or place your order. You create the design through Riedell, download the finished PDF and then order the boots through an authorised Riedell dealer such as Pabloskates. Here is exactly how the process works.

Step 1: Choose Your Riedell Skate Boot
Start by deciding which Riedell boot you would like to customise. ColorLab is available on selected roller skate and ice skate boots, with the available colour panels and materials varying between models. The Riedell 3200 is one of the most popular high-top roller skate boots available through ColorLab and its purchase price already includes the ColorLab colour customisation service. Remember that ColorLab changes the appearance of the boot rather than its basic construction, fit or support rating, so your first priority should always be choosing a model that suits your feet and your style of skating.
Step 2: Visit the Riedell ColorLab Designer
Go to the official Riedell ColorLab Designer and select Roller Skate Boots. Choose your preferred boot model and the designer will display the different areas that can be customised. Depending on the model, these may include the quarter panels, tongue, backstay, overlays, straps, logos, stitching, eyelets, outsole edge and laces. You can rotate between the available views to check the inside and outside of both boots while you work.
Step 3: Choose Your Colours and Materials
Work through every available section of the boot and select your preferred colours and materials. ColorLab offers a wide selection of leather, suede and metallic leather options, although not every material can be used on every part of every boot. You can keep things relatively subtle with two or three complementary colours or create something completely wild. The left and right boots can also be given different colour combinations on supported models. Take your time, check all four views and make sure you have not accidentally left an overlooked panel in the wrong colour.
Step 4: Confirm Your Size and Width
Select your boot size and width very carefully, as Riedell sizing does not necessarily match your ordinary UK shoe size and different boot models may fit differently. You must print the official Riedell sizing guide (below) and measure your feet properly, following the instructions in the video above. Do not estimate your size from trainers, another brand of skate or measurements taken directly from a screen. Complete the size and width boxes on the printed chart and, after placing your order, send Pabloskates a clear photograph of the completed sizing guide. ColorLab boots are made specifically to your chosen size, width and design, so accurate measurements are essential. If you are uncertain about any part of the process, contact us before ordering. Use the below High Top guide for boots and the Low Cut Guide for low cut Solaris type boots.
Step 5: Create and Download Your ColorLab PDF
Once every required part of the design has been completed, select the Create Order or Save Design button. Riedell will ask for customer information and require you to acknowledge its material and manufacturing disclaimers before generating your ColorLab PDF. Download this file and save it somewhere sensible because it contains the complete specification needed to manufacture your boots. Creating the PDF does not place an order and no payment is taken through the ColorLab website.
Optional Structural Changes and Custom Graphics
ColorLab primarily covers the colours and materials used on your chosen boot, but a limited number of structural changes can also be requested. Changes such as fitting lace hooks instead of eyelets cost an additional £32 per change, with a maximum of two structural changes available at this rate. If you require three or more structural changes, the order will be treated and priced as a fully custom boot instead.

Custom graphics can also be added, but there is no standard fee because the price depends on the amount of artwork and its complexity. To obtain a quotation, please send us your completed ColorLab PDF, a separate high-quality file for each graphic and the completed Riedell graphic template (below) showing exactly where each graphic should be positioned. We cannot request a custom graphic quotation until all of this information has been supplied.
Step 6: Check the PDF Carefully
Open the downloaded PDF and check everything before continuing. Confirm the boot model, size, width, left and right boot colours, materials, stitching, eyelets, logos, sole colour and any other selected details. The PDF is the manufacturing specification for your boots, so please do not assume that a mistake will be noticed or corrected automatically. If the PDF says metallic gold when you wanted turquoise, the factory will work from metallic gold. This is the moment to catch any mistakes.
Step 7: Order Your Boots From Pabloskates
Once you are happy with the design, place your order for the appropriate Riedell ColorLab boot through Pabloskates. Make certain that the model, size and width selected on the Pabloskates product page match the information shown on your ColorLab PDF. If they do not match, stop and contact us before completing the order. Payment is made through Pabloskates rather than through the Riedell ColorLab designer.
Step 8: Send Us Your ColorLab PDF
After placing the order, send your completed ColorLab PDF to Pabloskates and include your name and order number so that we can match the design to the correct purchase. We will use this document when submitting the order to our authorised UK Riedell supplier. Please send the actual PDF file rather than a screenshot, photograph or description of the colours, as the PDF contains the precise material and colour codes required by Riedell.
Step 9: We Submit the Order to Riedell
Pabloskates will check that the supplied design corresponds with the boot model, size and width purchased before forwarding the order through the official UK supply chain. If anything appears inconsistent, we will contact you before submission. Once the order has been accepted for manufacture, changes may no longer be possible, which is why checking the PDF and sizing beforehand is so important.
How Long Will ColorLab Boots Take?
ColorLab boots are handcrafted to order at Riedell’s facility in Red Wing, Minnesota, U.S.A, rather than being taken from ordinary UK stock. Manufacturing and international supply times can vary, so any lead time provided should be treated as an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date. We will pass on any meaningful updates we receive, but choosing ColorLab means accepting that your completely personalised boots will take longer to arrive than a standard pair taken directly from stock.
Can I Change or Cancel My ColorLab Order?
Please contact us immediately if you notice a mistake after ordering, but we cannot promise that a design can be changed once it has been submitted. ColorLab boots are produced specifically for you using your chosen model, size, width, colours and materials. For that reason, they cannot normally be cancelled, exchanged or returned simply because you change your mind, dislike a colour combination or order the wrong size. This does not affect your rights if the boots arrive faulty or have been manufactured incorrectly.
Is ColorLab the Same as a Fully Custom Boot?
No. ColorLab allows you to personalise the colours and materials of an existing Riedell boot model, but it does not automatically alter the internal shape or structural construction of that boot. Full custom manufacturing is a separate service intended for skaters who require individually measured boots or significant structural changes. If you need more than colour customisation, speak to us before ordering so we can establish whether ColorLab is suitable.
Can Pabloskates Turn Them Into Complete Roller Skates?
Absolutely. You can order the ColorLab boots by themselves or speak to us about building them into a complete pair of roller skates using your preferred plates, wheels, bearings and toe stops or dance plugs. Plate choice and mounting position can make an enormous difference to how the finished skates feel, so we can help you put together a complete setup that suits your skating rather than simply bolting on whatever happens to be available.
Before You Place Your Order
Please check the boot model, size, width and complete colour specification one final time before paying. Save a copy of your ColorLab PDF, make certain it matches the product being ordered and send the original PDF to Pabloskates with your order details. If you are uncertain about the boot, sizing or complete skate setup, ask before ordering. It is always easier to answer a question beforehand than to discover a problem after your handmade boots have entered production.

Paul – Owner, Pabloskates
Roller skating is an incredibly subjective activity, and what works brilliantly for one skater might not work at all for another. Everything from boots, plates, wheels and cushions to mounting positions and skating techniques comes down to personal preference, experience, skating style and individual comfort. The opinions, reviews and recommendations I share are based on my own knowledge, experience and time spent both building and skating on different setups. They are my opinions, not universal truths. Your experience may be completely different, and that's absolutely fine! There's rarely one perfect setup that suits everyone. I always encourage skaters to experiment, ask questions and discover what works best for them, while ensuring their equipment is properly fitted and safe to use. Ultimately, the best setup is the one that works for you, not necessarily the one that works for me.
