The Avenger Magnesium plate features a 45-degree double action design with fully adjustable pivot pins. Originally developed for short track speed skating, it was later adopted and refined for Roller Derby in the early 2000s, where agility and control are critical.
 
This plate is manufactured from lightweight magnesium with a durable white powder-coat finish. It is fitted with DA45 black aluminium trucks, hardened steel 8mm axles, and hollowpoint kingpins. Cushion setup includes Sure-Grip purple 85a Super Cushions, supplied as four barrel and four conical. A rubber Carrera toe stop is included as standard. Axle nuts and mounting hardware are supplied.
 
Pivot pin setup and adjustment
Pivot pins are not preset at the factory and must be adjusted during installation. Each pivot pin should be set so the ball end makes light contact with the bottom of the Delrin pivot cup.
 
After installation, pivot pin adjustment should be checked regularly. A lack of obvious movement does not necessarily mean the adjustment is correct. In some cases, pivot pins may be set too long, which can result in an unstable or overly reactive skating feel.
 
If the pivot pin is too short, you may notice slight vertical movement in the truck when pressure is applied. Adjust the pivot pin until this movement is eliminated and the pin rests with gentle pressure in the pivot cup. Once correctly set, tighten the pivot pin lock nut firmly against the truck housing.
 
Never skate with loose pivot pin lock nuts. Improperly secured pivot pins can self-adjust during use and may cause damage to the truck threads.

Action tuning guidance
A very stiff setup may initially feel more stable, but it requires significantly more effort to initiate turns. Over time, this extra force can lead to increased strain on both the skater and the boot.
 
As a general rule, a stiffer action causes the skate to dictate movement, while a softer action allows the skater to control direction more naturally. A loose setup does not have a mind of its own. Erratic behaviour usually comes from over-correction by the skater.
 
The DA45 geometry is designed to turn faster and with less effort than traditional designs. When correctly tuned, it responds precisely to your input.
 
Plates are supplied with 8mm axles as standard. If you require 7mm axles, please request this at the time of ordering.
