Pablo's Skate Build Diary: Nike Bauer Vapor Enforcer Conversion on Sure-Grip Avanti Magnesium Plates

Some hockey boots don't come along very often, and the Nike Bauer Vapor Enforcer is certainly one of them. This unique build started with a rare pair of boots that were properly reinforced with riveted carbon fibre strengthening plates before being transformed into a stunning set of custom quad roller skates.

Legend has it they belong to a deer that found himself stumbling across a frozen lake... although we can't officially confirm that. 🦌😂

To complete the conversion, we paired the boots with Sure-Grip Avanti Magnesium plates, creating a lightweight, strong and highly responsive setup that's built to skate for years to come.

Why the Nike Bauer Vapor Enforcer?

The Vapor Enforcer is one of the more unusual models from the Nike Bauer era and has become increasingly difficult to find in good condition.

Its supportive construction, comfortable fit and distinctive styling make it an excellent choice for a quad conversion. Rather than letting a great pair of hockey boots sit unused, converting them into roller skates gives them a whole new lease of life while preserving a piece of skating history.

The Build

To complement the boots, we chose Sure-Grip Avanti Magnesium plates.

The Avanti Magnesium is one of the lightest metal roller skate plates available and offers an excellent combination of strength, precision and durability. Its traditional 10° kingpin geometry provides predictable handling, making it suitable for everything from recreational skating through to artistic, rhythm and dance skating.

As with every custom build at Pabloskates, the plates were carefully positioned and mounted to achieve the best balance, alignment and overall skating performance.

Built by Hand

Every custom skate conversion is individually assembled in our Derby workshop.

Our build process includes:

  • Removing the original ice hockey blades.

  • Inspecting and preparing the boots.

  • Carefully aligning and mounting the plates.

  • Installing all mounting hardware.

  • Fitting heels where required.

  • Carrying out final quality checks before dispatch.

Every pair is unique, and that's exactly what makes these conversions so special.

If you've got an older pair of hockey skates tucked away, they could become your next favourite pair of quad skates.

We build custom conversions using a wide range of plates, wheels and components to suit your skating style, whether you're looking for a comfortable recreational setup or a premium performance build.
